Who We Are

Josh and Gabby moved to Hilton Head four years ago (yes, from Ohio!) seeking warmer winters and summers closer to the ocean. After working at several of the island’s popular restaurants, the couple decided they were ready to have a little more decision making and a lot more fun!

Corks Wine Co. was created over the course of several years, pulling influence and inspiration from restaurants all over the world. Gabby and Josh settled on a fundamental goal; to create a classy yet comfortable place where people could relax and enjoy good company, great wines and delicious food.

Like most great ideas, the couple would often piece together menu concepts and interior design ideas late at night after work, while sipping on a good bottle of wine. Over time, they quickly saw their vision coming to life and realized it was time to find the right location.

After becoming lost while in search of another property, Gabby and Josh stumbled across downtown Bluffton’s Promenade development. With the surrounding charm of Historic Old Town Bluffton, and all of its wonderful neighbors, the two quickly knew this would be the spot.

They quickly secured a site and Gabby and Josh did what they do best… grabbed a bottle of wine (or two!) and set out to design the perfect atmosphere for friends and family to gather. They steered clear of consultant firms and interior designers and simply focused on creating a place they would both enjoy if they were out and about for a night on the town.

Beginning in Janurary of 2008, they set out to transform a concrete shell into a wine bar and restaurant like nobody had ever seen before in Bluffton. And today they are pleased to serve as the local’s gathering spot of choice. Each day brings a new adventure and an exciting experience at Corks. Gabby and Josh vowel to never become complacent and continue to grow and develop the bar to the highest of standards and expectations.
